Watching Your Christmas Waistline
With the holidays coming up it’s easy to break away from your healthy routines and slide into high-calorie indulgence. While it may be tempting to let yourself off the hook – resist the urge to go soft. Here are a few tips to keep you and your healthy habits on the right track.
Watch your portions. This may sound like a no brainer, but it’s harder than it seems. Try to eat only what you can fit on your plate. Practice sensibility when it comes to your serving size. Load up on healthier food items like veggies and lean meats and make sure to watch out for those super high carb items.
Get a friend involved Having someone to hold you accountable will help to keep you on the right path. Plan to activities like walking or hikes.
Maximize your workout We all are on tight schedules during the holidays so ramp up the intensity of your exercises and cut down on the duration. You should plan a high caloric burn workout that lasts about 30 – 45 minutes.
Watch out for the booze! The wine and spirits will most likely be flowing during the holidays. It’s easy to keep going once you’ve had a couple; watch what you drink and be wary of those sugary drinks. Keep those high caloric mixers away and mix that alcohol with soda water.
Lastly, make sure to treat yourself. It’s easy to partake in the comforts of good food and drink. You can still indulge without doing damage to your waistline. Schedule some YOU time! Buy yourself a day at the spa or indulge in a facial. Do something that makes you feel good, but doesn’t require stuffing your face!
